There are other ways to ascertain your preferred learning style than Honey and Mumfords Learning Styles. Multiple Intelligences were developed by Dr Howard Gardner of Harvard University and take a fresh look at the way we learn as we have several different forms of intelligence, some stronger than others.

Linguistic - Learn through words, writing reading etc

Mathematical/Logical - good with numbers and logic.

Visual/Spatial - Learning through art, visualising, navigating.

Musical - music, rhyme, and rhythm.

Bodily/Physical - sport, dance

Interpersonal - reading other people's moods well.

Intra-Personal or Reflective - good at self-analysis and reflection.

Naturalistic -  people who like and respect nature.

Interestingly ability at school has largely been been graded in terms of pupils Linguistic and Logical/ Mathematical abilities which are also the basis of IQ tests. In fact school is increasingly focused around these areas with league tables and SATS. However a high IQ is not always pre-requisites for a successful and happy life, hence we now talk about other areas such as EQ.
